How to Add Subtitles in Streamit


What Are Subtitles?

Subtitles are text versions of the dialogue and audio elements in a video. They appear on the screen and help viewers understand spoken content.

How to Add Subtitles to Episode, Movie, or Video

Step 1: Log in to WordPress Admin Dashboard

  • Log in to your WordPress Admin Dashboard.
  • Navigate to the content section where you want to add subtitles:
    • Episodes
    • Movies
    • Videos

Step 2: Open the Subtitle Tab

  • Edit an existing Episode/Movie/Video
    OR
  • Click Add New to create new content.
  • Scroll down and locate the Subtitle Tab.

Step 3: Upload a Subtitle File

Click on Add Subtitle.

You will need to:

✅ Upload a Subtitle File

Supported subtitle formats:

  • .vtt (WebVTT – Recommended for web players)
  • .srt (SubRip Subtitle format)
  • .ass (Advanced SubStation Alpha)

Make sure your subtitle file is properly formatted and synced with the video.


Step 4: Add Subtitle Label

  • Enter a Subtitle Label (Example: English, Hindi, Spanish, Arabic, etc.).
  • This label will be visible in the video player’s caption selection menu.
  • Choose a clear and user-friendly language name.

Step 5: Add Multiple Subtitles

You can upload multiple subtitle files:

  • Add them one at a time
  • Or add multiple subtitle entries as required

This is useful for multilingual content platforms.


Step 6: Save or Update the Content

After adding subtitles:

  • Click Update (if editing existing content)
  • Or click Publish (if creating new content)

Step 7: View Subtitles on Frontend

To check subtitles:

  1. Open the Episode/Movie/Video on the frontend.
  2. Look for the CC (Closed Caption) icon in the video player.
  3. Click the CC toggle to enable subtitles.
  4. Go to Settings → Captions to:
    • Select your uploaded subtitle language
    • Switch between multiple subtitle files
    • Turn subtitles ON or OFF anytime
