1. Overview
The SMS / WhatsApp Template Settings in KiviCare allow administrators to customize automated messages sent to patients, doctors, and clinic staff. These templates ensure that notifications related to appointments, invoices, and other system events remain personalized, consistent, and compliant with messaging providers.
2. Accessing SMS / WhatsApp Template Settings
- Navigate to Settings in the KiviCare Dashboard.
- Click on the SMS / WhatsApp Template tab.
3. Managing Templates
The main template page displays a list of all available system notification templates.
Template List Fields
- Template Name
Indicates the trigger event (e.g., Appointment Booked, Invoice Created).
- Recipient(s)
Identifies who receives the message:
- Patient
- Doctor
- Clinic Admin
- Status
Toggle switch to Enable or Disable the specific notification template.
- Actions
Click Manage to customize the template content.
4. Editing a Template
Click Manage on a template to modify its message content.
Configuration Fields
- Content SID (Optional)
Enter the Content SID if your SMS or WhatsApp provider requires a pre-registered template ID
(commonly required for WhatsApp Business APIs).
- Template Content
Text editor where you define the message body using standard text and dynamic variables.
Dynamic Keys
Above the content editor, a list of available Dynamic Keys is displayed.
- Click to Copy
Click any dynamic key to copy it to your clipboard.
- Paste into Content
Paste the key into the Template Content editor where dynamic data should appear.

Example Template Message
Hello {{patient_name}}, your appointment is confirmed for {{appointment_date}} at {{clinic_name}}.
5. Saving Changes
- Click Save Changes.
- All notifications sent after saving will use the updated template content.
6. Testing SMS & WhatsApp Templates
You can verify your SMS or WhatsApp configuration by sending test messages directly from this page.
Steps to Send a Test Message
- Click Send Test SMS or Send Test WhatsApp in the top-right corner.
- A popup modal will appear.
- Enter the following details:
- Mobile Number
Enter the recipient’s phone number (include country code if required).
- Content
Enter a test message body.
- Click Send.
